The Studio at Kirkharle
Birthplace of "Capability" Brown 1716 - 1783

From my studio at Kirkharle Courtyard (see also Kirkharle News), the birthplace of Capability Brown, I design and create a range of sculptural pieces. All can be bought from the studio - commissions are welcome.

I also sell a range of terracotta from Chris Dunne, raku from Marj Taylor and glazed stoneware from Sophie Hamilton.

SCEPTRE - Modern Garden & Interior SculptureKirkharle Courtyard, in Northumberland, has the added attraction of an excellent Coffee Shop, where displayed around the walls are photogrphs by Duncan Davis. Above the coffee shop is the Gallery where, amongst other high quality items, Robinson-Gay's hand-crafted furnititure is displayed. Also on the site is Potter's Green where you can buy a wide range of locally produced speciality food products.

Sculptor Dennis Kilgallon
Winner of "Craftsman Magazine" Award 2002

Dennis Kilgallon in Cyprus as a childMy inspiration comes from a fascination with antiquity and mythology created by childhood memories of living on the island of Cyprus. Exploring as a child I would suddenly discover seemingly discarded fragments of a previous age.

The edge of a pillar, the juxtaposition of the ancient and modern - on the one hand a random event, on the other a conscious and purposeful placement, always fascinates and intirgues.

Dennis Kilgallon at work in his workshop at KirkharleMy love affair with sculpture started at school and continued briefly at Art College before I worked as a stone carver, potter, art technician, 'branched' into production management in various potteries and then spent some time in a pottery making terracotta garden pots.

Eventually, after being sidetracked for many years into ceramics, I decided to marry my first love. My production experience and my creative sculptures have created the ideal partnership. So here it is and here I am 35 years later.

For the 2003 Chelsea Flower Show Red Dust Korai and Fishies sculptures were featured in the Paul Martin (www.paulmartindesigns.com) 'Lazy Salad Days' Garden display.
